Glasgow Sport continue to run one of the biggest coach education programmes in the country with over 3,000 annual attendances at over 150 courses. The company recently conducted a survey of all coaches who participated in the Sports Coach Education Programme for 2011-2012. This survey provided invaluable feedback on the positive impact of the Coach Education Programme but also constructive criticism of how we can improve it for the coming year.

The highlights on the information gathered by this survey where:
73 % of people rated the coach education experience as very good, 23% as good, and 2% each for poor/very poor

The biggest area of improvement noted was the need for further promotion of the courses offered, this was distantly followed by the catering and variety of courses offered

Some benefits of the programme were communicated as being increased confidence in coaching, Being a qualified first aider, Becoming a Child Protection Officer for the club and enhancing knowledge in many fields.
Many coaches highlighted benefits to the club which included more coaches at the club, a better standard of coach at the club, club administration improved and it allowed club expansion.

JJB kindly provided a £50 gift voucher, which was awarded to Antonio Carlo Carbetti - Basketball Coach for Glasgow Under 12-14 team -for his efforts:

“I believe the whole idea of supporting coaches and volunteers is excellent and it’s great that Glasgow Life consider it very important that coaches and volunteers should improve and learn  ... I come from Spain and we don't have the number of courses with a vast choice of sports organized by Glasgow Life. .. I am very sure I will be participating in more of these courses.”
- Antonio Carlo Cabrera.

Antonio attended a small event at the JJB store on Sauchiehall Street to collect his voucher, alongside Glasgow Sport’s Sports Development Manager, Kirsty Clarke and Store Manager George Reid. Kirsty Clarke presented Antonio with his voucher and commented:

“It is important to us to find out what our customers think of our service and what impact we are having in sport in Glasgow. Glasgow Life’s coach education programme is very important part of what we do and the survey has provided invaluable feedback on how well we are doing well and how we can improve our service.”
