Cadburys are the official treat provider for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games. Glasgow Sport is working in partnership with Cadburys and other partners to deliver the Spots V Stripes programme, building on a greater sense of community within local areas. The aim of the programme is to inspire and encourage families to play games, increasing the awareness of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Who can take part?
The activities on offer are inclusive for all ages, abilities and backgrounds, aiming to increase confidence, skills and experiences. The rules are simple, two sides, Spots and Stripes, all you have to do is pick your side and start playing. There are no set sports; anything counts as a game from giant jenga to tug of war to tiddlywinks and sack races the list is endless.
Volunteers are essential
Volunteer involvement is crucial in the running of the programme; to date we have recruited 15 games ambassadors. These ambassadors have helped at events which range from Pollok Park family day to Riverside Regatta Museum open day. The volunteers benefit from additional training and broadening their personal skills and experiences. As part of the programme we are recruiting more volunteers, if you are interested in getting involved please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com
Since the Spots V Stripes programme began we have worked with a variety of sections within Glasgow Life (Events, Sports Development, Active Living, Play Services) and a number of external partners such as Urban Fox, Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice and Land & Environmental Services. Between now and December 2012 the Spots v Stripes team is actively looking to deliver 35+ events within Glasgow.
