There is a wide range of competitive opportunities for both junior and senior players in Glasgow from sports centre tournaments to the International Championships held at the Kelvin Hall International Sports Arena on an annual basis.
For players looking to develop their game it is important to play a mix of tournaments. Within Glasgow at junior level players can access sports centre tournaments, Glasgow Schools Badminton Association events, Glasgow School of Sport tournaments, the Glasgow & North Strathclyde Junior League and Junior Championships and National Junior Championships. This provides a key step within player development and is a major advantage to have these types of events locally.
At a senior level Glasgow offers access to leagues, inter club competition, sports centre tournaments, senior tournaments, masters events and of course the Scottish International Championships.
The Glasgow School of Sport run events at Under 10, 11, 12, 13 & 15 age groups which are ideal for young players looking to take part in open competition. All events are played in pools and therefore give junior players the maximum number of games. It is designed to be a non intimidating environment as for many young players this may be their first experience of open competition.
