On request, we will aim to provide a coach to work alongside a teacher for an identified period of time.
Exposure Programmes linked to local clubs
In partnership with Active Schools, local charity and voluntary organisations, we offer curriculum coaching session within schools to encourage increased participation in basketball and school club links.
Local competetion programmes
Basketball Development are aiming to pilot a local competetion opportunities for schools committed to basketball. The vision is to establish local/accessible, fun competetion opportunities for schools who regularly participate in Basketball. Area based competition means transport costs will be minimal with emphasis on fun, friendly competition. Our aim is to create links between the schools. Schools will be encouraged to host mini games in their after school club time where possible.

Primary Teachers In-service
In partnership with Education and Basketballscotland, local Primary Teacher In-service opportunities are available for teachers wishing to development their basketball skills and knowledge through Educations CPD courses. Please see details of up and coming course:

Description: Primary Basketball: P4-7
This course will look at developing the fundamental skills of basketball: footwork, passing, shooting, dribbling and defensive stance and introduce tactical offensive movements. Accompanied by a resource manual will be a set of lesson plans that will include fun warm-ups, introduction of skills, game sessions and cool down. The main emphasis of the course will be how to deliver sessions with the main concept of learning through the playing of games, key to this will be the questions and challenges posed to the players. Each card will detail the lesson objectives, equipment needed, links to the curriculum as well as fully detailed and a well explained lesson plan.
The 2 hour module is accompanied by a resource manual and a set of activity cards. The activity cards offer suggested session plans.
