Glasgow provides increased opportunities for all to take part in cycling including mountain biking, road, track, BMX and Cyclo Cross.
The city is rolling out Scottish Cycling's Go-Ride programme, aimed at improving both young riders and their clubs. It focuses on volunteers and young members - improving coaching standards and increasing the number of young riders with access to coaching activities within a school of club environment. Go-Ride supports the creation of school-club links, which helps provide clubs with a constant influx of new young members and helps everyone work towards the shared vision of more young people, more active, more often in cycling.
A new and exciting recreation programme is being implemented throughout 2010. The programme will see a series of led rides taking place every Sunday throughout Glasgow from July to the end of October. The led rides take place in small groups and cater for those who want to ride for fun, those who want to ride to improve, and those who want to strengthen their cycling ability. It also offers the opportunity to meet and make new friends.
A series of activity programmes will be orgaised during the holiday periods for various ages and abilities and offer up to 5 days of quality coaching.
