Hockey or Field Hockey as it is known in some parts of the world, is a stick and ball game with origins dating back thousands of years. It is traditionally played on grass, but more often these days - especially at the top levels and in certain countries - hockey is played on synthetic surfaces.
In Glasgow a broad variety of opportunities to play, coach and officiate schools, clubs and performance development squads is available. It is a key sport within the West of Scotland Institute of Sport and the Glasgow School of Sport, Bellahouston Academy, which supports the development of talented and elite players.
Hockey Development works closely with Hockey Clubs supporting the expansion of clubs and effective links with schools in the city, ensuring those introduced to the sport have the opportunity to continue to take part, have fun and learn new skills.
We work with the following clubs in the city:
- Clydesdale Hockey Club
- GHK Hockey Club
- Western Hockey Club
- Kelburne Hockey Club
