Sports Person of the Year vote now

Sportsperson of the Year 2013


These awards recognise the excellence and achievements by Glasgow and Scottish sportsmen, sportswomen and sports organisations.
Nominations​ are invited from any individual or organisation wishing to nominate from the categories listed below.

1. Evening Times Glasgow Disabled Athlete of the Year
A sportsperson with a disability who has shown outstanding commitment 
and performance. Nominees must meet at least one of the following criteria:          a) Glasgow resident; b) Member of a Glasgow club; c) Born in Glasgow
 

2. Service to Sport – Lifetime Achievement Award

A person who has shown outstanding commitment, dedication and enthusiasm in their support of sport over a considerable period. Nominees must meet at least one of the following criteria: 
a) Glasgow resident; b) Member of a Glasgow club; c) Born in Glasgow 
 

3. Glasgow Team of the Year Award

A Glasgow based age group or senior team that has achieved a high level of performance in their sport
 

4. Evening Times Glasgow Young Sportsperson of the Year Award

A junior sportsperson displaying outstanding performance in their sport. Nominees must be 18 years of age or under and meet at least one of the following criteria: 
a) Glasgow resident; b) Member of a Glasgow club; c) Born in Glasgow
 

5. Glasgow Club of the Year Award

Glasgow based sports club that has contributed to the development of sport in the community locally or city-wide
 

6. Glasgow Primary Sports School of the Year Award

A Glasgow Primary school that has enhanced the sporting provision within their school.
 

7. Glasgow Secondary Sports School of the Year Award

A Glasgow Secondary school that has enhanced the sporting provision within their school.
 

8. Glasgow Student Athlete of the Year Award sponsored by the University of Strathclyde

 A student who has displayed outstanding performance in their sport. Nominees must meet at least one of the following criteria: 
a) A student living in Glasgow; b) A student studying in Glasgow; 
c) A student born in Glasgow City Council
 

9. Glasgow Coach of the Year Award

An individual who has shown an outstanding commitment to coaching and further development of athletes in their sport. Nominees must meet at least one of the following criteria: 
a) Glasgow resident; b) Member of a Glasgow club; c) Born in Glasgow
 

10. Evening Times Glasgow Volunteer of the Year

A volunteer who has made an invaluable contribution to sport within their club or local community. Nominees must meet at least one of the following criteria: 
a) Glasgow resident; b) Member of a Glasgow club; c) Born in Glasgow
 

11. Leader’s Special Award

The winner of the Leader’s Special Award will be chosen by the Leader of the Council each year in the lead up to the 2014 Commonwealth Games. (please note this award is selected by the Leader of Glasgow City Council and not by nominations)
 

12. Lord Provost’s Award

The winner of the Lord Provost’s Award will be selected from award nominees in any category. (please note this award is selected by the Rt Hon Lord Provost of Glasgow and not by nominations)​

13. Sportsperson of the Year 2013

You are invited to nominate a Scottish sports personality who in your opinion has given the most outstanding performance during 2013. Any Scottish sports personality is eligible.
