Swimming Lessons with Glasgow Sport

What's involved?

Beginner Level

Seahorses

This will introduce basic water movement through kicking practices in all four strokes as well as gaining a level of competence floating on both the back and front. Seahorses will also introduce basic submerging skills, poolside entries and push and glide practices. Finally the children will be able to competently swim on their front and back using a recognised stroke for 5 metres.

Turtles

These sessions will develop the kick while introducing arm practices in the four strokes. Children will also progress their floatation skills, on their front and back, as well as developing their submersion ability and their push and glide. they will also be able to competently swim using a recognised stroke for 10 metres on both their front and back.

Intermediate Level

Penguins

This class will develop all four swimming strokes, improving technique over a longer distance. Children will continue to work on their flotation skills, on their front and back, as well as their submersion ability and their push and glide.

At this stage we will also introduce basic survival skills. They will also be able to competently swim, using a recognised stroke, for 15 metres on their front and back as well as breaststroke and butterfly.

Otters

This class will further develop all four swimming​ strokes, continuing the improvement in technique over longer distance while consolidating floating, submersion and survival skills.

They will also be able to competently swim, using a recognised stroke, for 25 metres on their front and back as well as 15 metres on their front in a second stroke. Children will also show an ability in butterfly over 10 metres.

Advanced Level

Swordfish

This class will review all four swimming strokes, looking to maintain good techniques over distance. There will be further consolidation of floating, submersion and survival skills while introducing rotation skills.

Children will also be able to competently swim, using a recognised stroke, for 2 x 25 metres on their front and back as well as 25 metres on their front in a second and third stroke.

Sharks

This class will consolidate all four swimming strokes over a longer distance with correct tumble turns as well as reviewing floating, submersion and survival skills.

The children will also be able to competently swim, using a recognised stroke, for 2 x 50 metres, on their front and back. They will also be able to competently swim on their front, using a second stroke, for 2 x 50 metres and a third for 50 metres.

How do we book?

To book your swimming sessions all you have to do is pop into the centre and book up with the team at reception.

Session are booked in blocks of 10 weeks.
