Table tennis is an Olympic and Commonwealth Sport that has its origins in the 1880s. It is relatively low cost sport compared to other sports that can be undertaken by males and females of any age or ability and at every level from social participation right through to elite. Table tennis can be played in community halls, sports halls, school gymnasiums and sport centres – in fact anywhere there is room for table tennis tables - and can provide all the components to fully engage the local community. It is a world wide sport with China, Taiwan and Nth So Korea dominating the sport. It is a spectacle of speed and accuracy, with split-second athlete reactions required to keep the ball in play. Table tennis can deliver quick results, with even the youngest beginner achieving some results in a short period of time, with the resultant feel good factor.
