School Volleyball

Primary Schools

Volleyball Development provides support to schools committed to developing Volleyball through the provision of:

After School Club Delivery Support – On request, we will aim to provide a coach to work alongside a teacher for an identified period of time.

Exposure Programmes linked to local clubs – In partnership with Active Schools, voluntary clubs and key partners we offer curriculum coaching session within schools to encourage increased participation in mini volleyball  linked to local club sites school.  Mini Volleyball is played just like volleyball only the rules have been adapted to make it easier for teachers to introduce and allow beginners to learn the game quickly in a fun way.

Teacher support is available through In-service training and Coach Education opportunities.  If your school is interested in taking part in our exposure programme please register your interest at  volleyball@glasgowlife.org.uk

Local competition programmes – Schools who actively take part in our exposure programme will be given the opportunity to attend a local festival where they will compete in a fun, friendly environment supported by the local club.

Primary Teachers In-service

In partnership with Education and the SVA, local Teacher In-service opportunities are available for teachers wishing to development their volleyball skills and knowledge through Educations CPD courses.

Secondary Schools

A priority area for Volleyball Development is to increase the number of Glasgow Secondary Schools delivering Volleyball within the Curriculum and After School. Support and assistance is available through curriculum delivery, teacher in-service training, resource material for teachers and competition opportunities both locally and nationally.

The Scottish Volleyball Association provides National festival and cup competition opportunities for schools. Schools are also encouraged to affiliate to the SVA.

Secondary Teachers In-service

In partnership with the SVA local Teacher In-service opportunities are available for teachers. The courses are tailored to assist with the delivery of Volleyball within the Secondary PE curriculum.
