Digi-PALS Volunteer Project

​​As more and more services are delivered online, many local service users need a little extra help and support to access and make sense of the digital world. This is an exciting opportunity to help people to take their first steps in digital learning, or assist those who already have some basic digital skills to better understand and engage with the online services which have the potential to make a real difference to their day-to-day lives. 


The Digi-PALS volunteer role includes providing basic digital support to customers on a one to one basis, and may include tasks and activities such as:


Mouse/Keyboard skills

Internet – Navigation / Browsing / Basic Job Search / Online Forms / Social Media

Email - Setting up / Access / Attachments etc.

Printing /Scanning

Navigating Welfare Reform websites - Universal Job Match / Universal Credit

Texting

Mobile devices

Signposting customers to specialist support services


As the largest public library service in Scotland this opportunity will give you invaluable experience of working within a large and reputable organization, as well as the opportunity to develop valuable interpersonal skills and experience for CVs and job applications.

  • Skills/attributes/experience Good knowledge and understanding of computers and digital devices, patience and willingness to share skills and information with others.
  • Time requirement (number of hours per day/week) 3hrs per week for a mnimum of 3 months
  • Defined Hours Volunteers can choose the time and day that suits best from Mon-Fri between 10am – 5 pm. Opportunities for Saturdays may also be considered.
  • Additional information Full training will be provided as will a specific venue induction upon placement. Internal and external learning & development opportunities will also be offered and ongoing support will be provided by the Digital Volunteer Manager and Support Officer.
