​Want to be a part of Glasgow’s Commonwealth history? Be a Host City Volunteer! Join the army of people already signed up to provide the warmest of welcomes to visitors to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. The Host City Volunteers will bring passion and pride to Glasgow's streets providing information on the sports programme and the many cultural activities the city will have on offer. No experience of volunteering is necessary – we are just looking for enthusiasm and a smile!  Find out more and apply by 9th May here:


  • Any restrictions (gender/age) Minimum age 16. No maximum age.
  • Location/Address of opportunity City Centre locations in Glasgow (Volunteers will be on several routes that lead out from the City Centre to the SECC, Kelvingrove Park and the Emirates Arena. They will be in pairs.) Glasgow Green Merchant City Kelvingrove Bandstand

  • Number of volunteers required 1500
  • Skills/attributes/experience Volunteers have to meet the eligibility criteria and be able to fulfill the duties in the role profile. It would be beneficial if they had a passion and enthusiasm for Glasgow. All volunteers will be trained in what else is required.
  • Time requirement (number of hours per day/week) 23rd July 2014 to 3rd August 2014
  • Defined Hours Minimum of 4 shifts between the dates mentioned above. Maximum 5 hours per shift.
  • Additional information Training, support, a uniform and daily briefings will be provided. We can support with travel or carer costs.Volunteers will receive a bus ticket or zone card for their travel to and from their shifts during Games-time.
