You will:

Develop social and conversational skills;

Make a large impact on socially isolated older people who can’t get out independently

Create new friendships;

Learn more about the City’s museums and have access to museum staff and objects;

  • Any restrictions (gender/age) Minimum age 18. We are primarily trying to recruit male volunteers.
  • Location/Address of opportunity Glasgow Museum venues: Kelvingrove, People Palace, St Mungo's, The Burrell Collection, Scotland Street School Museum, Glasgow Museums Resource Centre (GMRC), Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA), Riverside Museum

  • Number of volunteers required 8
  • Skills/attributes/experience Be able to drive and have their own car Friendly, approachable and an ability to make conversation Reliable – ie able to commit to one Sunday afternoon per month An interest in museums
  • Time requirement (number of hours per day/week) One year
  • Defined Hours Sundays 2-4pm plus pick up and drop off times. The minimum commitment is one Sunday per month                                           
  • Additional information Project starts late summer 2014.A Coordinator will be present at all sessions. The Development Officer is responsible for all training/induction/support. There is wheelchair access.Contact the Elderly does not pay volunteer drivers' expenses.
