Get Involved

We’re sure you’ll be inspired by the athleticism of the individual players and the fast skilful and dynamic team performances of these elite squads as they battle for supremacy at this premier junior netball Championships. You too can realise your sporting ambitions by getting involved with netball, whatever your age, whatever your ability.

Netball Scotland, the national governing body for the sport, is responsible for promoting, organising and developing netball in Scotland from ‘grass roots’ to elite level. The organisation has more than 2,900 registered members and an estimated 20,000 participants in Scottish schools.

Netball Scotland also provides opportunities for talented athletes, coaches and umpires on the world stage based through membership of Netball Europe, the International Netball Federation (INF), and the Commonwealth Games Council for Scotland (CGCS).
The sport of netball has a huge following in Glasgow with opportunities at every level from Fun5z netball for primary school participants to the elite level involving the Glasgow Wildcats. The Glasgow Netball Association is key partner in the delivery of netball within Glasgow in conjunction with the National Governing Body; Netball Scotland.

A netball programme of taster and after school club sessions is available for all schools in Glasgow:

The Primary School Netball programme is called Fun5z, Fun5z is a modified version of the adult game. It is designed to introduce participants to the sport with an emphasis on basic skill development and having fun.  Each school can also take part in Area and City Festivals, Fun Sevens, Future Thistles Tournaments and the Youth Games.

The Secondary School After School Programme offers regular competition, from tournaments to age level leagues. The competitions allow talent identification for Glasgow City Squads from U13 to U19 level.
