REPUBLIC OF IRELAND LET IT SLIP THROUGH THEIR FINGERS
A feisty first quarter saw Malta and the Republic of Ireland neck and neck as they drew all the way, with Republic of Ireland just tipping it to go into the first break 11-10 up.
Within that quarter Malta missed vital shots which could have seen them forge a lead, but the Republic of Ireland played their best quarter of the tournament so far, managing to turn the ball in their favour.
However it wasn't to last. It was as if a different team took the court for the Republic Of Irelands remaining game. The passion seen in the first quarter wasn't there any more and as Malta went from strength to strength Ireland fizzled out.
"We had to do more- we were very capable." Said Francesca Farrugia, Malta's captain. And they certainly did just that- they pushed until the final whistle to win 67-17.
The Republic of Ireland's head coach Rhian Humphreys was far from pleased.
"The girls lost their belief and stopped playing. I'm very very disappointed with the last three quarters. They showed non of the fire they had previously."
