New Zealand v Wales

NEW ZEALAND DENY WALES MEDAL HOPES

New Zealand take a step closer to the podium and eliminate Wales' chance of a medal.

The final score of 79-41 showed a heavily dominant New Zealand side but the Welsh should be proud of their achievement scoring so many goals against the huge netball nation.

New Zealand came out all guns blazing and scored 21 from 23 attempts, putting them firmly in charge of the game, where as Wales looked sleepy to begin with.

Leading by 27 at half time, New Zealand made changes but Wales adapted well.

The Welsh caused trouble in the third quarter narrowly losing it 15-17 but ultimately their slow start to the game ruined their chance of making any realistic threat to the final outcome.

"We knew with Melissa's mentality what the kiwi's would be like. They were going to fight for everything." Said coach Laura Williams of her assistant Melissa Hyndman.

Janine Southby is pleased with the progress so far "Most of it I'm pretty happy with, there's a few areas we still need to tidy up. We know we've got to step up again for tomorrow."

New Zealand will face Jamaica in the semi final tomorrow.
