Some things that have changed as a result of comments from young people in Glasgow:
REACT Tackling Violence Programme
A consultation run by Glasgow Young Scot showed that there were many young people being affected by violence, or the fear of violence, and also that many of them had angry emotions that they did not know how to deal with. As a result of this knowledge REACT applied for, and have subsequently been awarded, funding to run the REACT Tackling Violence programme. This will be delivered to young people in schools and in the community for ages 11 upwards.
City Sounds
City Sounds! In response to feedback from Glasgow Young Scot Card holders saying they would like to have a music event staged especially for them, Glasgow Young Scot arranged City Sounds.
This gave Glasgow's young people the chance to be the star and also have the opportunity to win free recording time at a Glasgow recording studio with support from top industry scouts.
Glasgow Fort shopping discounts
We've recently negotiated a range of discounts for Glasgow Young Scot Card holders in shops at the Glasgow Fort Shopping Park. We listened when young people in the East End of the City told us they wanted more local discounts. Visit the GYSC discount pages for details of where you can use your card.
Glasgow GYM membership
We've introduced a reduced-fee Glasgow Club membership, meaning Glasgow Young Scot Card holders save £s when joining the city's largest health and fitness network. Young people told us they wanted this and we made it happen. Even the name "GYM" (Glasgow Young Membership) was suggested by a young person.
