Tramway launches Spring/Summer Season

Dance, Art and Family: Tramway announces details of its April – August 2016 season
Tramway, the internationally renowned arts venue in Glasgow’s south side, has announced details of its April – August 2016 season, including an exceptional programme of Dance, Performance and Visual Art, and a host of accompanying special events and participation opportunities which will allow visitors of all ages to take part at Tramway.
The performance season opens with Rosie Kay Dance Company: 5 Soldiers, which topped the Best Dance of 2015 charts in The Observer, The Guardian and The Independent.  It also features Bloom, a programme bringing together some of the most hotly tipped dance artists working in the UK now; Fagin’s Twist, a 'shadowy new' retelling of Dickens’ classic interpreted through the unmatched contemporary hip-hop style of Avant Garde Dance; and much more besides. Tickets for all dates are on sale now.
In Visual Art, Tramway again participates in the world renowned Glasgow international festival of contemporary art, this year hosting a group show curated by the festival Director Sarah McCrory and co-designed by artist Martin Boyce. The exhibition at Tramway will run from 8 April – 22 May, and will be accompanied by a busy programme of workshops, talks, tours and more, including a GI Family Day on 17 April.
The season of exhibitions also features The India Street Bazaar (10 June – 24 July), a collaboration between Glasgow-based and Indian printmakers, and Pehchaan: Art from Another India (18 June – 31 July), showcasing a new Glasgow Museums collection of Indian Art in an immersive environment commissioned by Tramway. These too will be accompanied by an inspiring participation programme.
