The Worlds: Final line-up of Pipe Bands confirmed

Entries have now closed and the final line-up of pipe bands competing at the 2018 World Pipe Band Championships have been confirmed.

This year’s competition will consist of over 8,000 pipers and drummers from 214 bands and 13 countries, some as far as Canada, New Zealand, Oman and Zimbabwe.

Last year’s winners, and current 2018 European Champions, Inveraray and District are back to defend their title. They'll be competing alongside previous winners Field Marshal Montgomery, Shotts & Dykehead Caledonia and Simon Fraser University.

Fresh from winning the UK championships in June, and runners up at last year’s Worlds, St. Laurence O’Toole pipe band will be back, while St Johns College of Zimbabwe and Royal Army of Oman pipe bands both return after several years off from the competition.

The draw for the day is now live and can be found on the RSPBA's website.

The World Pipe Band Championships take place on Glasgow Green on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 August. Book your ticket now
