Fiddler Alasdair White’s deep-rooted yet wide-ranging musicality reflects both his Lewis birthplace and current Big Apple home, as well as 18 years’ globe-trotting with the Battlefield Band. He returns to Celtic Connections flanked by Breabach piper and flautist James Duncan Mackenzie, Aaron Jones on bouzouki and multi-instrumentalist Ewan MacPherson, performing music from his 2015 HebCelt commission An Iuchair, alongside tunes from current projects.
After featured roles in 2018’s Celtic Connections showpiece Orain nan Gaidheal and new Netflix movie Outlaw King, young Gaelic singer Kim Carnie fronts her freshly-christened line-up of Innes White, Laura-Beth Salter and Hamish Napier, performing a mix of traditional and original material.
