In recent days we have been receiving an increasing number of cancellations from people due to take part in Aye Write who are understandably concerned by the constantly evolving coronavirus situation. In the last 24 hours it has become clear we can no longer deliver anything like the festival we had promised and in the interests of our audience, authors, publishers, volunteers and staff we have taken the decision not to carry on with this year’s festival at this time. We are considering potential options for running some of the programme in the future and will contact ticket holders directly as soon as possible.

Aye Write is back for 2020 from 12-29 March with fiction, politics, poetry, crime & thriller, memoir, history, music and more.

We see the return of Aye Write Introduces and The Books That Made Me amongst another stellar line-up of authors including Maggie O’ Farrell, Val McDermid, Joanna Trollope, Bake-Off judge Prue Leith, Strictly’s Anton Du Beke, Michelin starred chef Tom Kerridge, actor and singer John Partridge, actor and comedian Greg McHugh as well as a free celebration of the life and work of artist and author Alasdair Gray.

We will discuss some of the most pressing issues in society today including politics, weight-loss, Windrush, social media, feminism, the future of work, living sustainably and the climate emergency.
