William Walton’s spectacular oratorio “Belshazzar’s Feast” is one of the most stunning works in the choral repertoire. In a 35 minute trip through one of the best known biblical stories, the work is scored for a large symphony orchestra, chorus and baritone soloist. With two additional septets of brass situated above the main orchestra, the sound in the City Hall’s vibrant acoustic will be awesome.
The first half of the concert will feature Verdi’s seldom-heard “Four Sacred Pieces” which conclude with his spine-tingling “Te Deum”.
