Previously seen at Celtic Connections with The Island Tapes, featuring original live music alongside Scottish Screen archive films of Hebridean life, innovative Scottish multi-instrumentalist David Allison returns with his latest soundtrack project, accompanying a rare screening of the 1920 silent movie The Last of the Mohicans, directed by Clarence Brown and Maurice Tourneur. Adapted from James Fenimore Cooper’s classic 1826 novel, set amid the mid-18th war between British and French colonists for control of North America, it’s a thrilling adventure-romance also exploring conflicts between mankind and nature, whites and non-whites, richly complemented by Allison’s dramatic and evocative new score, featuring keyboards, percussion, bass, ukulele and acoustic guitar.
