Formed amid Glasgow’s richly vibrant folk scene, this youthful line-up packs in an impressive array of styles and influences for just three musicians. A former Mod medallist, and recent BMus graduate from Glasgow University, in violin and Gaelic song, Highland-born Niamh MacKaveney is joined by classically-schooled Italian fiddler David Lombardi, who’s also studied traditional music in Ireland and Sweden, and French guitarist Jean Damei – also known through his Event Horizon project with Géza Frank – whose influences include Celtic, jazz and funk. Their mix of expertise, inventiveness and joie de vivre creates a winningly distinctive sound.
