Bringing together clarsach, percussive dance, cello and guitar, DuoDuo Quartet is a new collaboration featuring Scottish harp innovator Maeve Gilchrist and dazzling Michigan-born stepdancer Nic Gareiss, with the musical/marital partnership of US cellist Natalie Haas – best known as fiddler Alasdair Fraser’s right-hand woman - and guitarist Yann Falquet, of Québécois power-trio Genticorum. Each pair will perform separately, before joining forces as a foursome.
The currently reigning Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year, Scots singer Hannah Rarity reinforced her rising-star status with September’s gorgeous debut album, Neath the Gloaming Star. “Deeply affecting. . . a grace and maturity far in excess of her years.” (Bury Times)
