Edinburgh Carnival Bloco

Let the carnival begin! Come along, try on beautiful huge Carnival costumes, enjoy Brazilian drumming and dance masterclasses and pre-carnival performances from artists from around the world.

‘The World in One Bloco’: Contributing to the Glasgow 2018 European Championship Parade, Edinburgh Festival Carnival’s newly formed bloco brings together spectacular large-scale costumes, dancers, musicians street performers and acrobats. Local emerging artists from Leith based drumming group ‘Pulse of the Place’ join forces with performers from Jamaica, Trinidad, South Africa, Zambia, USA, Brazil and Cuba to present an extravaganza of Samba music, giant puppets and feathered costumes complimented by dance and street theatre.

We will bring a colourful, fun and energized showcase like no other you have seen before, be prepared for ‘Something Wicked This Way Comes’.
