Fat-Suit
Fat-Suit take influence from the sounds of the Brownswood recordings, the UK underground jazz scene, and the broad soundscapes of Scottish folk. Within the collective are multi disciplined musicians of jazz, folk, rock, and electronic worlds. They take the stage as an 8-piece on a late club slot, 14 in a concert hall or theatre, to 30 strong in the studio. Fat-Suit’s 4th album is due for release Autumn 2019, with a UK launch tour.
Strata
Named as one of Jazzwise Magazine's "One to Watch in 2019" and nominated for both "Best Band" and "Best EP/Album" at last year’s Scottish Jazz Awards, Graham Costello’s STRATA blend stylistic elements of jazz, minimalism, and celebrated progressive/noise bands together with a strong DIY ethic, winning over audiences with towering dynamics and a raw and genuine enthusiasm. February 2019 saw the release of their debut album “OBELISK” which has garnered much attention from the UK press and beyond, with Clash Magazine calling it "startling, groundbreaking...it explodes definitions to seize fresh space”.
Mezcla
Mezcla are a world/jazz fusion ensemble currently making waves throughout the UK. Led by bass player David Bowden (BBC Young Scottish Jazz Musician of the Year 2017), Mezcla features some of Scotland’s brightest stars and is attracting attention for its innovative blend of soulful jazz and energetic grooves. Skilfully fusing influences from West Africa to Latin America and beyond, Mezcla's music is distinguished by its uplifting melodies, shimmering textures, and visceral improvisation.
Nominated for 'Best Band' at the 2018 Scottish Jazz Awards, the band have been touted by Jazz FM, BBC Radio Scotland and BBC Radio 3. Recent highlights have included a sell-out gig at the Edinburgh Jazz Festival, BBC Music's 'Biggest Weekend', and London Jazz Festival 2018.
