Filtering diverse West African influences through a London jazz-scene background, young horn-led octet Kokoroko tore up festival stages across Europe during summer 2019, not least back home at Nile Roger’s Meltdown. Centrally inspired by Fela Kuti, Ebo Taylor and Tony Allen, their intoxicating sounds span soul-shaking dancefloor workouts and dreamy palm-wine ballads.

“Combining a firm grip on the post-Afrika 70 tradition with some striking new directions” (AllAboutJazz)
