Intrinsically linked to Gaelic Culture and folklore, Shinty is fast, frantic and skilful, giving an unrivalled spectator experience ‑ a must see for any sports fan. Experience come & try sessions, a one-off shinty tournament with Scotland’s best players, demonstrations and a celebratory ceilidh.

The Shinty Gaelic Procession – everyone welcome to join in. Meet at Peoples Palace Entrance and join us as we walk through the Green.
The Shinty Medal Ceremony – supported by the Camanachd Association & the Celtic Association. A unique new cup created especially for Festival 2018
A ceilidh on the green, traditional style with Gaelic song celebrating Shinty, the sport of the Gaels with Mary Ann Kennedy, Glenfinnan Ceilidh Band, Robert Robertson and Gillebride MacMillan. The Gaels have a long association with the game of Shinty in the city, old rituals and stories with some of the most iconic songs in the Gaelic repertoire. Kick your shoes or just relax and listen to some of the world’s best Gaelic musicians in the heart of the European Championships.
