Nevis Ensemble - Loch Lomond, Balloch, North Kelvin, Kirkintilloch

Nevis Ensemble is a brand new Street Orchestra for Scotland, bringing 70 performances to communities across the country during Glasgow 2018.

We will take our energetic 40-piece orchestra, pop up and surprise commuters first thing in the morning, make guerrilla-style appearances in swimming pools, and even perform at the summit of Ben Nevis.

With the theme of Movement, and conducted by Holly Mathieson and Jon Hargreaves, the orchestra will draw musicians from Scotland, London, Amsterdam and Berlin, performing everything from Rachmaninov, to Radiohead, a few Reels thrown in, and a brand new commission from award-winning composer Matthew Grouse.

• Loch Lomond Shores, West Dunbartonshire, 10:30am - 10:50am
  Help us send off the competitors in the Open Water Swimming events of Glasgow 2018 with a performance on the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.
  
  
• Balloch Park, Balloch, West Dunbartonshire, 11:05am - 11:25am
  A short performance to help get the crowds at Balloch’s Festival 2018 celebrations. Food, drink and fun for all the family!
  
  
• Balloch Town Centre, Balloch, West Dunbartonshire, 11:35am - 12:05pm
  A performance just beside Balloch Train Station. What a better way to arrive to the gateway of Loch Lomond for the Open Water Swimming events of Glasgow 2018.
  
  
• Children’s Wood, Kelbourne Street, Glasgow, 4pm - 5pm
  A wonderful community effort to buy North Kelvin Meadow from Glasgow City Council has resulted in the Children’s Wood, and this will be a lovely performance in the forest followed by food and drink. Bring a blanket and enjoy a picnic.
  
  
• St Mary’s Church, Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire, 7pm - 8pm
  In partnership with Alzheimer Scotland, this performance is a Musical Memories ‘Big Sing’ open to all in the community in a Dementia Friendly Environment.
