Live the Life - Write the Books
Peter Hain, James Brabazon & Sarah Sultoon chaired by Louise Fairbairn
1pm – 2pm BST*
These three novelists have all used aspects of their day jobs when creating their thrillers. Former MP and Secretary of State for both Wales and Northern Ireland, Peter Hain has written The Rhino Conspiracy – a novel set in South Africa where a veteran freedom fighter and friend of Mandela is forced to break all his loyalties and oppose the ruling ANC party - a party he's been a member of all his life - to confront corruption and venality at the very top. Frontline journalist and documentary maker Jamesn Brabazon’s novel, Arkhangel, introduces us to Max McLean, an off-the-books assassin for the British government, and is a razor-sharp action thriller with the raw inventiveness of I Am Pilgrim and the breathless pace of movies like John Wick and James Bond. Sarah Sultoon is a journalist and writer whose work as an international news executive at CNN has taken her all over the world, her novel, The Source, is set in a TV newsroom where journalist Marie has spent six months exposing a gang of sex traffickers, it is a tense and thought-provoking debut that you will never, ever forget.
