Simon Thacker’s musical experiments have been called “joyously unconventional” and his Indo-Western collective, Svara-Kanti, offers a revelatory take on Punjabi folk music. In re-imagining these traditional songs, Thacker, an Edinburgh-born composer/guitarist draws, on his love of the classic sounds of Surinder Kaur and Narinder Biba to create intricate, expansive and highly original music with this uniquely gifted ensemble.

The show presents the Scottish debut of phenomenal young Punjabi/Sufi singer Afsana Khan (from Bhatinda, Punjab), tabla master Sukhvinder Singh "Pinky” and Jackie Shave, leader of Britten Sinfonia, on violin.
