Masterminded by ex-Richmond Fontaine frontman and prize-winning novelist Willy Vlautin, who sums up their sound as “late-night country-soul”, The Delines also feature members of The Decembrists, The Damnations and The Minus Five. Vlautin’s new songs conjure elegiac beauty from hardscrabble heartache, centred on the magical vocals of Amy Boone, who’s variously been likened to Patsy Cline, Lucinda Williams, Bobby Gentry and Dustry Springfield.

Appalachian native Dori Freeman’s self-titled debut release (featured among the New York Times’s top albums of 2016), together with its 2017 follow-up Letters Never Read, announced the arrival of a major new talent, blending pure-drop traditional strains with contemporary sophistication.
