Westward the Light perform music from their self-titled album, which has been lauded for “captur[ing] the majesty of the landscape as well as the heritage of the land”. Bandmates Charlie Grey, Sally Simpson, Owen Sinclair and Joseph Peach pool their considerable musical artistry and knowledge of folk history and their own home turf to create fresh compositions that are redolent with the age-old stories of Scotland’s land and people. Deploying fiddle, viola, guitar, piano and vocals and with track titles such as 'Dr McLeod Wears a Dirk', 'Retreat March' and 'Making Butter', these pieces are by turns melancholy and joyful, stirring and haunting. The effect is magical.

Multi-award winning Dublin-based trio Alfi combine traditional Irish and Appalachian music and song. They produce a unique and tasteful sound. Their music features an unusual line-up of harp, five string banjo and uilleann pipes. In their short two years together, the band have won a prestigious Molloy Award and Caoimhin O Dochartaigh Award.
