Join us for one of our short events, where each week we showcase items from our wonderful collections. Reflecting changing world events, social conditions, technological advancements and cultural ideas since the Mitchell Library opened in 1877, our collections cover books, photographs, journals, and historical documents.

It’s National Allotments Week!  Come along and dig in to some of our material. We’ll be highlighting the history and development of allotments in Glasgow from the very first site in Cowlairs in 1858, exploring their impact and bringing it bang up to date with the latest books on making the most of your allotment.

For more details follow the Mitchell Library on Facebook, and #MitchellCurious on Glasgow Libraries’ Twitter feed.

This material is available on Levels 4 and 5 of The Mitchell Library.
