Let's Talk @ The Mitchell
Dates and times
Join us for one of our short events, where each week we showcase items from our wonderful collections. Reflecting changing world events, social conditions, technological advancements and cultural ideas since the Mitchell Library opened in 1877, our collections cover books, photographs, journals, and historical documents.
Come along and see some of our collections on Allan Pinkerton, the Gorbals-born founder of Pinkerton’s National Detective Agency, whose early trademark “The Eye That Never Sleeps” is said to have given us the term “private eye”. Find out more about the man who protected Abraham Lincoln and hunted Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. We’ll also be showing material on other Scottish and Scottish based detectives, both real and fictional.
For more details follow the Mitchell Library on Facebook, and #MitchellCurious on Glasgow Libraries’ Twitter feed.
This material is available on Levels 4 and 5 of The Mitchell Library.
