Join us for one of our short events, where each week we showcase items from our wonderful collections. Reflecting changing world events, social conditions, technological advancements and cultural ideas since The Mitchell Library opened in 1877, our collections cover books, photographs, journals, and historical documents.

The Glasgow School of Art generated some of the most skilful embroiders in the country at the turn of the last century. Artists like Margaret Macdonald, Jessie Newbery, Jessie M King and Ann Macbeth demonstrated some of the finest embroidery techniques of this period, along with playing their part in contributing to The Glasgow Style. See a selection of books, newspaper articles, pictures and biographies.
