Winners of three Radio 2 Folk Awards since 2015, Teesside trio The Young’uns have won hearts and minds on three continents with their impassioned harmony vocals and near-unaccompanied songs, celebrating ordinary lives and calling for social justice. Their new folk-theatre creation, combining newly-written songs, spoken word, archive recordings and visual imagery, tells the story of its eponymous working-class hero, born into destitution in their own home town, whose life encompassed the Hunger Marches, the Battle of Cable Street and the Spanish Civil War.
“A landmark performance . . . enthralling, passionate, moving and occasionally hilarious . . . simply the best thing they’ve ever done” (Louder Than War)
