Business & IP Centre Glasgow explains how to make best use of their free resources to support your start-up or expanding business. 

This workshop will explain how to make best use of free resources at Business & IP Centre Glasgow to support your business start-up or expanding business, from accessing business profiles and factsheets to market research and company information. 

Resources covered include: 

  • COBRA (Complete Business Reference Adviser) - an easy to use and clearly written online resource providing hundreds of small business idea guides as well as practical how-to factsheets. The guides cover everything from writing a Business or Marketing plan to highlighting relevant legislation. 
  • ProQuest ABI/Inform – This database features key journals, newspapers and reports with its international coverage giving a complete picture of companies and business trends around the world. 
  • FAME – Provides Financial and company information allowing you to research companies, competitors and customise targeted marketing lists 
  • IBIS World – comprehensive collection of Industry market research and risk ratings. Covers supply chain and key success factors. Also includes UK Brexit Impact statements. 
This workshop will guide you through these resources and more and give you the opportunity for some hands on practice. 

Location 
The workshop will be held at BIPC Glasgow at The Mitchell Library. The workshop will be delivered in line with the Scottish Government’s Covid-19 Strategic Framework. The Guidance currently stipulates ‘it will continue to be the law, subject to exceptions, that face coverings must be worn in indoor public places and on public transport’.

Accessible toilets

This accessible toilet is approximately 26m (28yd 1ft) from the main entrance. This accessible toilet is located to the rear right as you enter.

Assistance dogs

Guide and assistance dogs are welcome and a bowl of water can be provided. 

Hearing loop

There is a fixed loop hearing assistance system.

This venue does not play background music.

Wheelchair access

There is a wheelchair to borrow. To borrow the wheelchair, please contact a member of staff.

Motorised scooters are allowed in public parts of the venue.

The Café is open Monday to Saturday 9am to 4.15pm.

Parking

Please note that there is on-street surrounding The Mitchell Library, from 8am-6pm Monday to Friday this is metered. As this is also a local residential area, please use these spaces considerately. Alternatively, there is an a NCP Car Park on India Street next to Charing Cross Train Station which is a 2 minute walk away. 

Photography and video recording

On occasion, Glasgow Life will be on the premises to film and take photos.
