Celtic Connections
Dates and times
The Danny Kyle Open Stage is a series of concerts held over the course of the festival that allows emerging musical talent to take part in Celtic Connections. From all the performers on the Open Stage, six will be chosen to display their talents in a showcase concert on the final night, and receive the opportunity to perform in support slots at next year’s festival.
Danny Kyle was a passionate supporter of Scottish traditional music, and campaigned tirelessly for its revival in Scotland. His close friend Liz Clark comperes the concerts in his memory, and the concerts have a reputation for drawing attention to acts that are now household names, including Karine Polwart and RURA.
The final showcase will be held on Sunday 3 February. All of the Open Stage concerts throughout the festival are absolutely free, and take place in the Exhibition Hall at the Concert Hall.
