Help with English language skills

Group of people at training course

Glasgow Communities offer free ESOL (English for speakers of other languages)  learning in groups, based on assessed language levels.

Adults will go through an initial ESOL assessment, usually with one of our college partners, to determine level and are referred to an appropriate group.

Our courses are mostly at introductory levels - equivalent to SCQF Levels 2-4. Participants negotiate their learning plans with our tutors. Typically, participants learn to carry out everyday transactions in English; improve their conversational English, and learn basic English grammar.

Learning sessions run for 2 hours per week with adults attending for varying lengths of time depending on level and goals.
Our classes are free of charge and are open to any adults in Glasgow for whom English is not their first language. Learning is open to everyone including refugees, asylum seekers and people from settled black and minority ethnic communities.
