A single site facility for Local and Family History Research and access to our Special Collections.

The only library in Scotland to offer a single site facility for local and family history research which includes onsite Registrars service and Archives.

Level 5 has study space and PCs for researchers of local and family history, and offers access and assistance to our rare or special collections, including newspapers. Larger map tables as well as PCs and general study tables are located here, as well as study rooms for individual day hire. Experienced assistance is available, with additional programmed workshops, talks and display area.

Glasgow City Archives offers a supervised search room for patrons accessing Archival materials only. Different opening hours apply.

The Registrars is run by Glasgow City Council Registration Service, and is located within the Glasgow Archives search room on Level 5. The Registrars provides you with all the vital records to begin your family history journey, and booking an appointment is preferred. Different opening hours apply.
