Glasgow Museums Lending Moratorium - Now In Operation

Glasgow Museums' Lending policy.

From now until the end of 2020, Glasgow Museums is carrying out a number of major capital projects. These include the re-display of the Burrell Collection, which involves planning and carrying out the decant of collections housed there (approx. 22,000 objects) alongside preparations for international tours and the re-display and fit out of the collection and building. We are also packing and moving 200,000 objects from an off-site store to a new storage venue, as well as carrying out general housekeeping moves. Most of this work is being undertaken by our own staff, and in order to complete these projects we have put a moratorium on all further loans of objects until December 2020 for exhibitions opening post-December 2021.

We will of course honour existing lending agreements which have been formally approved and which have already been agreed to take place over this period.
