Derek Forsyth

Assistant High Performance Hockey Coach

Derek joined the full time coaching team in 2009. With over 25 years’ experience as a Performance Coach, Derek is currently Scotland's Head Coach of the senior men’s team. He previously has had two spells as the Scottish U21 Head Coach as well as being the senior men’s assistant coach.

Derek has also had two successful periods as the head coach of Kelburne Hockey Club 1st XI, who dominated the nation’s domestic scene both in the early 90s and more recently from 2004- 2017, the team also enjoyed success in Europe winning a number of European tournaments. Derek’s work will be largely focussed on the development of players, integrating the national team principles and concepts into daily coaching at the School of Sport. Derek has a SHU Level 3 Hockey Coaching qualification.
