What is the Summer Reading Challenge?

Where can you take part?

Find your nearest local library!

Glasgow Libraries

The Reading Agency and Scotland's libraries run the Summer Reading Challenge every summer. The challenge is to read any 6 books over the holidays borrowed from your local library. This year's theme is Space Chase inspired by the 50th anniversary of the moon landings.

Space Race is a great opportunity to get really creative as we encourage children to let their imagination flow as they follow the adventures of the super space family The Rockets. The aim is to for children to read any 6 books, it doesn’t have to be about science or space, it’s whatever ever interests them and fosters a love of reading. And there’s freebies too! Children who sign up for the challenge receive a free pack to get them started plus they can collect stickers as they go along and receive a medal for completing the challenge!

This year we also have a FREE PRIZE DRAW for everyone completing the main challenge. So make sure you read any 6 books before 10th August and you will be entered in to our free prize draw with a chance to win tickets to the Glasgow Science Centre (2 adult and 2 child tickets). Full terms and conditions here.
