What We Do

If you eat, sleep and breathe sport, finding a job that combines your passion with your profession could be the perfect career move for you. However, there’s more to a job in Sport than working on a poolside!

Glasgow Sport manages the city’s indoor and outdoor sports areas, such as Glasgow Club, sports pitches, golf and outdoor recreation sites, and health and fitness services. We work with local communities and key partners to deliver a sports development programme which introduces people to sport, keeps them involved in sport, and supports those with talent to succeed in sport.

There are many roles at all levels within Glasgow Sport, including Customer Service, Venue Operations, Commercial Development, Sports Participation, Sports Development and Physical Activity and Sports Performance.

Our Museums team manages 8 world class museum venues, housing the city’s collections of national and international significance, and makes them accessible to as wide a range of audiences as possible.

You don't just have to be passionate about art and objects to work in a museum or art gallery. At Glasgow Museums we are committed to positioning ourselves at the heart of local communities and achieve this through our Open Museum’s handling and reminiscence kits, travelling exhibitions, community based exhibitions and partnership project work. Museum work is some of the most rewarding work you can do.

Whether you are looking for a traditional curatorial or conservator role, or have skills in fundraising, programming, projects or customer service, Glasgow’s Museums have roles to suit everyone.

Shhhh! Haven’t you heard? Working in one of Glasgow’s Libraries means working in a thriving community hub, not the place of silent study they once were. Our libraries aren’t just somewhere to borrow books; today’s libraries offer interactive family sessions, PC access, welfare and benefits advice, Macmillan cancer support, Citizens Advice Bureau, career advice and so much more. In the community, our Area Services teams encourage and support individuals to participate regularly in cultural and sporting activity, such as adult learning, capability building and play & youth programmes.

Of course we still need librarians and cataloguers, but also have a range of opportunities within Family Learning, Youth Development, Community Engagement and the Macmillan programme.

The vision of Arts and Music is to ensure all Glasgow citizens and visitors have access to high quality arts and music experiences and participation opportunities.

We operate across the spectrum from high art to popular culture; contemporary to traditional; professional to amateur; from dance, theatre, performance, visual, film, literary to micro creative practices. We also produce, programme and manage major festivals: Glasgow International Festival, Celtic Connections Festival and Merchant City Festival.
Our dynamic and creative team is made up of Producers, Arts Officers, Assistant Venue Managers, Technicians, Front of House staff and Box Office staff.

Our support services work behind the scenes enabling our frontline services to operate safely and effectively. A wide range of career opportunities sit within Corporate Services which is made up of Admin, Business Support, Fundraising, Facilities Management, Finance, Governance and Risk, Learning and Development, Health and Safety, Human Resources, Marketing and Communications, Procurement, Policy and Research, Retail and Special Projects.

The award-winning Glasgow Convention Bureau promotes Glasgow as a must visit conference destination. The team provide free and dedicated conference support services for academics and conference organisers. Our Convention Bureau works with key stakeholders, the SEC, venues and academics across the city and country to bid to win and deliver memorable meetings in our city.

A career in conventions could involve Research, Accommodation Booking, Sales or Client Services. But one thing’s for sure, you’ll be working with one of the most vibrant, best equipped and most competitive conference destinations in the world!
