We have a large number of oral history recordings. They have been collected over several decades for a number of different projects.
These tapes and the machines for playing them are now becoming very fragile. In partnership with the Scottish Oral History Centre at the University of Strathclyde, we have been awarded a grant by the Arts and Humanities Research Council to develop this collection.
From 2010 to 2012 our staff will catalogue and digitise the recordings and develop ideas for how the material can be used more effectively.
This will preserve our collection and make it much more accessible for people to use. This kind of project is known as a Knowledge Transfer project.
