Celebrating The Burrell July – October 2016​​

An exciting programme of special events celebrating the Burrell will take place until 23 October 2016.


Whether it’s listening to a Curator’s talk about an object in the collection or rolling up your sleeves in an artist-led workshop, we help visitors, both young and not so young, make sense of what they see in this magnificent collection.

Late Summer Oriental Weekend​

Saturday 3 September 2.30 –4.30pm

Free and drop in

Enjoy an afternoon of live Oriental music and a selection of short, topical films.

Sunday 4 September 2.30 –4.30pm

Free, please book

Savour the delicate flavours of teas, enhanced by the sweetness of Scotland’s famous soft water, with a tea tasting afternoon with Dr. Yupin Chung.

Tours Below Burrell (Doors Open Week)​

Join us for Doors Open Week and a unique opportunity to see the hidden stores of one of the country’s great collections. Free - Please book.

Sunday 2 October 2 – 4pm

Join us for an informal afternoon of live music and tours as well as presentations on the Burrell’s ambitious refurbishment and redisplay. Refreshments provided.​ Free - Drop in.

​​​Weekend Celebrations​

Saturday 22 & Sunday 23 October 10am – 5pm

The final weekend will host fun activities each day do your last trip will be even more special. Highlights include music performances, mural workshops, object handling and a family ceilidh with the Loudon Ceilidh Band on the final day. Free - Drop in.

Bookbug at the Burrell

Starting Tues 6th Sept 12.00 – 13.00 & every following Tues until end of October

Bookbug Sessions are free, fun and friendly events for babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers and their families to enjoy together.

Each session lasts around 30 minutes and includes songs, stories and rhymes. With no need to book, they take place in a very relaxed environment and are a great opportunity for parents to spend some quality time with their little one​

Films, Talks, Walks and Tours

Along with our Family Films, we also show Classic Cinema: Films for grown-ups, on the third Sunday of every month, with an additional screening on the Wednesday prior. ​

The museum also hosts Themed Tours given by our dedicated team of Volunteer Guides, as they focus on different aspects of our collection.   We also offer daily guided tours that can bring fresh understanding to even the most seasoned visitor.  The tours are free, and there are two scheduled each day; one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The Burrell Guides are trained volunteers. 

We also run enjoyable monthly walks around Pollok Park, with specific themes and objectives.
