The residency has placed building relationships at the centre of the programme... relationships were absolutely essential to us.

Phase 1, Ward 3, Greater Pollok

As part of Glasgow Life’s Creative Communities Artists in Residence programme for Ward 3, Greater Pollok, Hannah Brackston and Daniele Sambo delivered Action Led: Make, Do & Play, a community-wide creative initiative shaped by the themes Green Space, Young People and Play.

Rooted in the ward’s unique geography and demographics, the artists forged connections with local groups, including local primary schools, and were invited to collaborate across various public events.

Activities included adventure sessions in Damshot Woods, Darnley Common Health Games workshops with over 200 primary pupils, and woodland walks at Haugh Hill with a local health centre group. Highlights ranged from bogie building and racing to a site-specific retelling of A Midsummer Night’s Dream with high school students.

Further work saw the duo lead community printmaking, co-create health-themed displays, mow a grass racetrack at Crookston Castle, and co-host Kate Cranston’s Tea in the Park at Househill Park, developed with the support of residents and local partners.
