Phase 2, Ward 3, Models of Resilience

We’ve had a great time doing the workshop. Jennifer has loved working with clay. I think this might be her new favourite thing! She’s very excited to see it when it’s done. Thank you for all your help.
Phase 2, Ward 3, Greater Pollok
As part of Glasgow Life’s Creative Communities Artists in Residence programme for Ward 3, Greater Pollok, artists Hannah Brackston and Daniele Sambo delivered Models of Resilience, a socially distanced sculpture project celebrating community spirit during Lockdowns.
Working in collaboration with artists Ruby Pester and Roos Dijkhuizen and key community groups, they designed and distributed over 118 bespoke sculpture kits to households across the ward. Each kit contained clay, tools and instructions, inviting participants to create a 3D model symbolising local resilience.
Online support and phone guidance were offered, ensuring accessibility for all, regardless of age, health or isolation status. The project enabled residents to express themselves creatively from within their homes and foster connections across the ward.
All sculptures were collected, fired, glazed and professionally photographed for an outdoor exhibition. Models of Resilience offered a powerful reminder of shared strength and creativity in a time of crisis, with each contribution forming part of a larger collective portrait of the community’s enduring spirit.
